Ditropan General Information
Ditropan (generic name: oxybutynin; brand names include: Cystran) is used to decrease the urgency and the frequency of urination.
Ditropan is used to control urgent, frequent, or uncontrolled urination in people who have overactive bladder (a condition in which the bladder muscles have uncontrollable spasms), spina bifida (a disability that occurs when the spinal cord does not close properly before birth), or other conditions that affect the bladder muscles.
Ditropan works by relaxing the bladder smooth muscle and helps to decrease muscle spasm. This delays the initial desire and the urge to urinate and prevents urgent, frequent, or uncontrolled urination.
Ditropan is non-addictive.
