Regaine General Information
Regaine (generic name: minoxidil; brand names include: Regaine / Morr) is a vasodilator medication known for its ability to slow or stop hair loss and promote hair regrowth in both men and women.
Regaine is used as a long-term treatment for common baldness.
Regaine is the first and only FDA-approved topical treatment that is clinically proven to regrow hair. Regaine also helps to reverse the progression of hereditary hair loss.
Regaine is the #1 dermatologist-recommended brand for hair regrowth.
In hereditary hair loss, a combination of heredity, hormones, and age causes a progressive shrinking, or miniaturization, of certain scalp follicles. This causes a shortening of the hair's growing cycle. Over time, as the active growth phase becomes shorter, the resting phase becomes longer. Eventually, there may be no growth at all. Researchers believe that Regaine works in part by partially enlarging the hair follicles and reversing the miniaturization process. By enlarging miniaturized follicles, the growth phase of the hair cycle is prolonged, allowing the hair to become longer and thicker looking. And with more follicles in the growth phase at the same time, it is possible to see improved coverage of the scalp.
Regaine is available in 60 ml bottles containing either 2% or 5% minoxidil topical solution.
Regaine Recommendations
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Use Regaine exactly as directed.
Regaine must only be applied when the hair and scalp are completely dry.
Apply one dose (1mL) of Regaine to the hair loss area of your scalp two times a day, preferably morning and night. Massage the solution lightly into your scalp, and wash your hands well afterwards. This dose should be used no matter what the size of the bald spot is.
Response to treatment with Regaine may vary widely, and some patients may see faster results than others.
Men may see results as early as 2 months, but most men and women see results in 4 months. Your results and success may depend on proper application and dosage.
Continued use of Regaine is needed to maintain hair regrowth.
You may follow your normal hair care routine when using Regaine. However, you should apply Regaine first and wait for it to dry before applying your styling products.
If you forget to use Regaine once or twice, just start your twice daily application again and return to your usual schedule. Do not apply more than 1mL of Regaine and do not use it more than twice daily to make up for the dose you missed.
Keep the solution in a cool place. Regaine is flammable, and must be kept away from heat, sparks and naked flames.
