Tolterodine General Information
Tolterodine (generic name: tolterodine; brand names include: Roliten / Detrusitol / Terol LA) belongs to a group of medicines called antimuscarinics.
Tolterodine is used for treating overactive bladder with symptoms of urinary frequency, urgency, and leakage.
Tolterodine helps to control the release of urine by reducing spasm, and relaxing the smooth muscle of the bladder wall. It also increases the storage volume of the bladder, and can act on the brain to delay the desire to urinate.
Tolterodine:
Reduces the number of wetting accidents
Reduces frequent visits to the bathroom
Reduces strong, sudden urges to urinate
Tolterodine works by blocking a chemical that causes contractions of the bladder.
Tolterodine as available as 4 mg extended release capsules in blister packs.

Continue taking your medicine for as long as your doctor tells you. Your doctor should re-assess your condition at regular intervals, for example after 6 months, to determine for how long you need to keep taking Tolterodine.
